Early Fall Home Tour – Simple Ways to Add Fall Touches to Your Home
I’m sharing simple ideas for fall decorating with thrifted & vintage pieces in this early Fall home tour.
Hi friends! I really wanted to keep the fall decor simple this year and I will try to do the same for Christmas but I make no promises with that. 🙂 I focused on using my everyday vintage pieces in black, brown and white and added in earthy warm tones such as gold, burnt orange and plum.
I always recommend having an inspiration point for decorating. My entire plan for decorating for fall was inspired by this piece of art I picked up at a local thrift store this summer. I knew the moment I saw it that it would be perfect for the mantel and would be the jumping off point for the rest of my “earthy, European farmhouse fall decor. The muted shades of yellow and orange are beautiful against the black background.

In the foyer I pulled out the black and added pops of it as well as some green. Everything is so pretty against the white wainscoting. You can see DIY board and batten project here.
I picked the picture of the row boat up at a garage sale for $1. I love thrifted art!
Tip: A great way to add texture is with dried florals.

The pillows and the throw blanket also are inspired by the art on the mantel as well as the art above the sofa.

The picture above the sofa pulls out the green and yellow and the amber bottles warm up the space.
In the other rooms I pulled out the rose or plum color in the dried hydrangeas.
The fabric on the DIY ottoman pulls all of the colors together from the two rooms.
I love the plum against the gray of the hutch. You can see how we transformed this old hutch here.
I made the “apothecary” sign from an old bed rail. 🙂

The nesting box shelf is always fun to decorate.
Tip: mix in everyday items in a fall color story. Here I just used shades of orange, green and black.

I absolutely love the look and feel of your home!! And I love how you centered all the decor around your mantel artwork. I just had my floors resurfaced and am in the mood to spice things up for the season, so you’ve inspired me to go find some new art and update my color scheme!
Thank you so much, Amelia!
I really like your decorations. Everything looks so cozy and welcoming. I have so many of the same things from thrift shops. Lots of pictures and baskets and wooden pieces but haven’t been able to get them arranged since I live in such a small house. But just so you know I never give up. Your ideas are wonderful and I thank you for sharing.
Happy Fall!
