Farmhouse Fall Home Tour 2016
I’m thrilled today to finally be able to share my Fall Home Tour with you all!! It’s my absolute favorite time of year up in the Northeast with the crisp air and beautiful colors. If you’re at all like me however, as the days are growing shorter, time is flying by, especially with the kid’s busy fall schedules. It’s taken some time to get here but better late than never, right? So, come on in…
This Fall Home Tour is all about warm texture, layering old and new pieces and adding small pops of color. I kept the entryway pretty simple and left the milking stool the same, (you can see that project here) and just added some fall touches with the pumpkins from our garden.
The foyer opens right up into our family room and my favorite part of the house. The mantel is always fun to decorate but a bit of a challenge with the height. I love the color and texture the hydrangeas add to the space mixed with the blue and grey of the stone and the browns of the sifting screen which I picked up in Brimfield. I try to bring something in from the outdoors throughout the year not only because it’s plentiful but mostly because it’s FREE. Books are a go to for height and in this case I used black for balance.
I made the Gather sign from an old sign I picked up at a thrift store for $1. It just needed a good cleaning and a couple coats of paint. I created a stencil using Microsoft Word by printing the letters on card stock and then cutting them out with an Exacto knife. Tedious but effective.
Before:
The Family room is the center of our home. When you come down the stairs in the morning you see the trees and sky outside and I love the way the neutral decor blends in with the outdoors.
I also love mixing new and old pieces. I found this round screen at Brimfield on my last trip and used it as a tray on the coffee table. I also found the pulley at Brimfield and added it with the candlestick from Target and the woven pumpkin and pillows are from Homegoods.
You can see the mix of old and new here as well. The antique camera I got at a garage sale and I made the key art which you can see here. The October saying is a printable I found on line at On Sutton Place. I love the gold frame that it’s in. It mixes so nice with the orange and brown fall colors.

I love the way the orange pops against the gray walls in the dining room.
I didn’t include any vignettes from the kitchen because that is another project coming soon with some inexpensive updates I have to share. Also coming up is some fun projects for the outdoors. Speaking of outdoors, one of my favorite spots on the property, the Adirondack bridge. You can see that project here.
And lastly a view from the driveway…
I hope you enjoyed the Farmhouse Fall Home Tour today. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you’ll stay tuned for some fun projects coming soon. 🙂
Happy DIY’ing!

Your home is beautiful even without featuring all the fall touches. I like those too especially the wreaths. Thanks for sharing at #HomeMattersParty
Thank you, Donna!
