Vintage & Antique Finds – A Trip to The Brimfield Antique Show & Flea Market
How to create your own unique look decorating with vintage & antique finds . Here’s some inspiration with a recap of our trip to the Brimfield Antique show & flea market.
It took two and a half years but we finally made it back to Brimfield! We used to go every May for a few years (you can see some of those trips here and here) and then stuff came up including Covid so we couldn’t go. I have to say, it was worth the wait.
Just look at all those goodies!
I was looking for a few things in particular – old ladders, whisk brooms, anything that makes cool wall art and vintage kitchen gadgets to name a few. We also brought the truck in case we found furniture. I have my heart set on some kind of apothecary piece with lots of drawers.
My list for what to look for at flea markets is a bit different than my list for what to look for at garage sales. I find flea markets, especially ones this big, have such a variety of vintage & antique finds that I spend my time looking for the unusual, the things you can decorate with that make your style yours. You never know what you’re going to find and there is definitely something for everyone.
These primitive and classic items are perfect for flea market decorating farmhouse style.
Can you believe these pieces???
Gorgeous, right?!?
Unfortunately, they are a bit big for what I would need them for.
I fell in love with these mini copper pots. The patina is so yummy.
I love a great old trunk. These would make great coffee or end tables…
How awesome would this chalkboard be on the wall behind a sofa?!?
Not everything was old. Some things were new but had the same feel.
It was great seeing all of these things as well because it gave me some new ideas for fall decorating.
I LOVE this pottery but it was super expensive. I feel a new DIY project coming on soon inspired by these. Stay tuned!
We didn’t find everything we were looking for but some things found us!

My flea market style tends to be a mix with a bit of vintage and rustic pieces. I found this old whisk broom at Brimfield and framed it with a pretty black frame in this gallery wall. I wasn’t crazy about the silver on the top of the handle so I spray painted it Flat Black and it fits in so much better now.
Almost all of these pieces are thrift store or flea market finds.
Here are a few flea market decorating ideas with some of the other pieces we got.
Remember that old tattered box? With a little sanding and some mineral oil, she looks so pretty.
Here is how I styled the crate for now…
The binoculars have such a great patina. I really like the depth the distressed black color adds to the fall feel.
The large copper pot is pretty with simple fall flowers.
The white scale is now part of the vignette on the top of the hoosier cabinet in our kitchen.
The little book became part of a simple small vignette for fall.
The bobbins make a nice vase filler with some faux branches.

Flea markets are a great place to find unique pieces to decorate your home. Go with a few ideas of what you’re looking in mind but don’t be surprised if you find something you never even knew you needed. 🙂
Happy hunting!

OMG! Loved this post! You are so amazingly talented, Colleen! Loved how you refinished that box and the unexpected things you put together like the spindles in the little pitcher w branches. I wanted to go to Brimfield so bad this year, but once again it didn’t happen. Hoping for the next one!
Thank you so much, Linda!! I love creating little vignettes with unique pieces like that. 🙂
There is another week at Brimfield in Sept – the 6th – 12th if you can go!
Hi Colleen, Thank you so much for your great posts and ideas. I live in a small market town in Hertfordshire UK and it seems we have very similar tastes!! I also like collecting the unusual and creating the unexpected with them. Unfortunately we have not had any of our vintage and antique fairs for a while so I have enjoyed seeing yours. Looking forward to more of your posts
Hi Rosemary! Thank you so much for your kind words! I’m so glad you enjoy the posts and when your vintage and antique fairs do open again, I would love to see those pictures. 🙂
Have a beautiful week!
What a great haul…so many beautiful things! They look beautiful in your house!
Thanks for posting!
Thank you, Linda!
