Classic fall colors mixed with found treasures create a warm inviting space in this vintage inspired fall home tour. 

When I decorate for each season I switch up my color scheme a bit to share unique ways to decorate and give you fresh ideas for your own home. For our fall home tour 2022 I decided to go old school and focus mainly on warm, nature inspired autumn hues and mixed in rustic and vintage pieces for a cozy fall feel.

How do you decorate for fall?

I usually start with the mantel when I decorate for each season because it’s the focal point of the room. I made it easy on myself and kept the mirror I used in my summer home tour and layered it with a piece of art with the warm fall colors. 

 

 

I used cream, orange and brown for my color scheme which I pulled from the picture I picked up at a thrift store. I used pumpkins here and there but mostly gave the nod to the season with the autumn color palette. It such a subtle way to decorate for fall without going overboard. 

It’s easier to transition from room to room when your foundation is the same. I try to stick to wood tones, brown and cream. 

 

 

One of my favorite simple ways to decorate for fall is by using dried florals in fall colors. I love using dried florals because they add so much color and texture to each vignette.

Just like for everyday decorating, the key to keeping things flowing and cohesive in each room is repetition of color. I pulled the orange into the foyer with the faux flowers in the saddle bag and blanket. 

 

 

It’s also in the art which is a digital download from Etsy. You can see some of my favorite fall downloads here. I chose one that had a darker green in it too and would tie into the gallery wall on the stairs which I also updated. 

 

 

The burnt orange is then pulled in by the pillows on the sofa. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

How do you create a cozy feel for fall? Add all the pillows and blankets! All of the pillows on the sofa are from Target. I love the texture they add. 

 

 

 

The shelf above the sofa is a layered with our Fixer Upper inspired metal wall decor. The patina of the tin pulls in the orange tones. The brown books pulls in the other brown tones in the space and leads you into the office.

I picked these duck bookends up at Brimfield in May. 

 

 

I love adding the unexpected moments like the pulley, toolbox and the wooden bowl full of thrifted finds. 

 

 

I added some of the finds from our Brimfield trip this year like the large basket on top of the armoire. You can’t beat baskets for decorating with their warm tones and texture.  They are also another great way to use everyday items and decorate for fall on a budget.

 

 

How do you decorate the living room for fall?

I kept the yellow tones and neutrals going in the family room.

 

 

 

I changed out a few of the pieces of art and added more dried florals. 

 

 

 

 

 

I use the pillows in the chairs every fall because they are my favorite! I love the classic autumn colors.
