A Cozy, Rustic Antique Inspired Christmas Home Tour
Vintage skis and sleds, buffalo check and pops of red mixed with classic greenery make for a cozy, rustic Christmas Home Tour.
Hi Friends! I hope you’re doing well and have had a wonderful fall and a beautiful start to the Holiday season. It’s crept up on me which is surprising since we had an extra week after Thanksgiving. I wish I could say I used that time wisely and that I had a plan for my holiday decor but, I’m not gonna lie, this one didn’t come so easy. Fortunately, I love the way it turned out. Do you usually try to have a plan for decorating or do you just pull out the bins and wing it?
Once I found my inspiration, I was off and running. It came in the form of wrapping paper and was right up my rustic, antique alley. What’s not to love about buffalo check, deer head silhouettes and brown paper package? These are some of my favorite things!!
I tried not to buy too many new things this year and tried to stretch what I had a bit and mix it with everyday decor. The entry way got some pops of red with the some antique books. I pick these up any time I see them at thrift stores or flea markets for $1-$3 if possible.
The bench was a project this summer. I love the white paint and stain combo and how it warms up the entry. The Coca Cola crate was a sweet surprise from my husband one day just because he knew I would love it. 🙂

I kept the mantel pretty simple with mini trees and a pop of red with the buffalo check ribbon around the buckets.
The white background for the wreath is part of an old door we picked up at a garage sale for $10.
I use the same red pillows every year. You can see the coffee table makeover here. It used to be a dining table. 🙂
The shelf above the sectional is one of my favorite spaces. The sign I made out of an old cabinet door we picked up at a garage sale and the antique tool box with the leather strap we found in our old barn. The black tobacco can on the right and the skis on the top were both Brimfield finds.

I scored the suitcase next to the sectional at a garage sale about 25 years ago for $1. Love it!
I tried to scale back on the hutch this year to make things a bit more simple. I stuck to brown and white with hint of red here and there. I made the Believe sign out of a piece of leftover wood.
Tip: Frame wrapping paper
The small white frame next to the truck, which used to be in my son’s room, has one of the cute little trees I cut out of the wrapping paper.
This framed copy of Jingle Bells is a project I did a few years ago. It’s simply scrapbook paper I cut out and framed with a red paper background.
This little stool was plain brown wood when I picked it up for $3 at a thrift store. I little distressed black paint and it fits right in. You can see the shutter project here.
I pretty much always keep the hutch in the kitchen white and brown which will make it easy to transition to winter. I added the little bottle trees from the Target Dollar Spot, some greens and some cinnamon sticks. I made the glass snow globe out of a jar I found for $2 (I love the unique white top) and epsom salt.

You can’t go wrong with white pitchers and greens and I love the mix of the gold candlestick holders.
The old sled was a Brimfield fine for only $40. It’s quite heavy and poor Kevin had to carry it back to the car. 🙂
You can see the rustic wall decor project here.
Thanks so much for stopping by today. Whether you’re well ahead of the game and done with your decorating or you may be just starting, I hope you found a bit of inspiration and an idea or two you can use.
Have a wonderful Holiday season!

What a gorgeous display for the holiday. I especially luv the ol’ sleigh on your table and how you dressed it up for Christmas. It’s all so lovely.
Thank you so much, Erika! Merry Christmas!!
