What you need…

I got all of this stuff at a couple different thrift stores for under $10 total. The plate with the peaches was a gift. 🙂

What are the steps to make your own DIY cake plate stand?

1. Make sure everything is clean.

2. Start by painting the candlestick holders. I wanted everything on two of the cake stands to be white so I painted the wooden candlestick holder and the smaller plastic one with with Rusto-Oleum paint & primer spray paint in Heirloom White satin finish.

You can also use craft paint but I wanted more of a sheen to match the sheen on the plates. If you wanted a more matte finish you could use matte spray paint or simply mix a little bit of baking soda in warm water and then add some craft paint to it in a small container.

3. Let the candlestick holder dry thoroughly.

4. Sand the bottom of the plates and the top of the candlestick holders with 120 grit sandpaper to give the glue something to really stick to.

5. Apply the Gorilla glue to the top of the candlestick holders.
