Unique Farmhouse Decor -Brimfield Antiques Show & Flea Market 2018
Hi Friends! It’s road trip time! Hubby and I headed to the Brimfield Antiques Show & Flea Market again this year! I can’t say I found what I was looking for but lots of stuff found me. I actually went a little old school with some of my purchases which I’ll share in a bit. I’m so fortunate to have a wonderful husband who has great ideas and is not afraid of my crazy one’s too. “I’m sure you could do something with that”, he’ll say and a lot of those pieces end up as unique farmhouse decor in our home. One word for you…enabler (but the good kind 🙂 )
Last week I shared a video with my tips for preparing for and making the most of your time and money at flea markets and garage sales. You can see that here. Please excuse my Facebook live abilities. 🙂 I followed almost all of my own advice this trip with the exception of packing enough snacks. Haha.
I did bring my list and, unfortunately, only found one thing on it. There’s just so much to look at!
This is my favorite corner. We almost always find something.
How cool are these book ends??
I love the patina on this hutch!
So what actually spoke to me? A random bunch of things really…
Those shutters were a steal. Not sure what I’ll do with them yet. Yes, that’s a chicken cage and it will have a spot in our living room soon. 🙂
Random, right?
I have plans for everything. Those spindles? I know they look pretty rough, but wait til you see them now. I’ll share that project in a few days. 🙂
I bought the pictures for the frames. (I’m not really a cheetah kind of girl.) Those brown things on the end are piano bench legs and I’m not sure what to do with those yet because there were only two, but they were also only $1. I just really liked the shape.
This canvas army bag (the one thing on my list I found) is getting a Fixer Upper makeover. Can’t wait to share that project soon.
So there are projects in the works but here’s what happened with some of the goodies so far.
I used the chicken feeder as a tray so to speak in our entryway. I gave it a good scrub with some bleach and water so it was clean and then I added some neutral accessories. I love the white against the rusty blue metal goodness!
The other addition was the metal bin. It came out of a factory somewhere in Massachusetts. As soon as I saw it I pictured it on our kitchen table filled with pumpkins in the fall. Here’s where it ended up for now…
First I added little chair pads to it so it wouldn’t scratch the table. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve used those on crates, baskets and trays to save the day.
I’d say that’s definitely unique farmhouse decor. I love the patina!
I used the picture frames, too. I left one wooden…
And painted the other one white I stenciled both chalkboards with Chalk Couture…
Super cute, right? I’ll be sharing more projects in the coming weeks so stay tuned. Remember, if you are looking to add something unique to your home, head to your local thrift store, flea market or garage sale. You never know what you’ll find and pretty much anything can be painted. Make it your own.
Do you have a favorite thrift store or flea market upcycle project you’ve done?
Happy DIY’ing!
