Since the hoops come in all different sizes, the possibilities are endless. I spotted these 2 embroidery hoops at a thrift store for $.25 each and thought, that’s a great project for Spring. I picked up some pretty faux flowers and was on my way.

Supplies needed for a Spring hoop wreath:

I left the smaller hoop in one piece but pulled the larger one apart and will use the other half of it for a wreath for a different time. Someone had wrapped both pieces of the larger one in masking tape all the way around. I thought about removing it and even tried to at one spot but it was nearly impossible and would have taken forever. So instead, I embraced it as added texture (haha) and spray painted it with white chalk paint.  I left the smaller one in the wood tone.

How to make a wreath with fake flowers.

I picked up these pretty pink flowers to use in my spring decor. I love the shade of pink and knew they would be so pretty against the gray in the hutch. I started by cutting it apart to use in smaller pieces with wire cutters.

Creating a wreath is simply done in layers. I started by lining up the greens for the bottom layer and found that the hardest part was getting them even or balanced on both sides. I left the stem a bit longer and used the floral wire to wrap around the hoop also adding a layer of hot glue underneath.

I cut some of the leaves off of the flowers stems as well and used those as the second layer. I tucked them in between the other greens to give it a bit more depth with the darker shade of green gave it more color. Lots of glue here.

Every now and then I would hold it up to see if it was even and noticed that you could really see the white underneath so I grabbed my craft paint and added the perfect shade of green just to the bottom under the greenery. This way, when it’s hanging you won’t see any white show through.

So I continued to add the small and larger flowers here and there with the hot glue, tucking the stem under the leaves and petals of the other pieces until it seemed full. I alternated small and large and varied the angle of each flower a bit so it seemed more random. This DIY embroidery hoop wreath was taking shape.

I did the same layering process with the smaller wooden hoop but with less greens.

This was a super easy, embroidery hoop DIY and budget friendly project for Spring and only took me about 30 minutes to make both wreaths once the spray paint dried. The greenery stems and flower stems were about $12 and I had all of other materials so both wreaths cost about $12.50.  You can’t go wrong. 🙂

How to hang an embroidery hoop wreath.

I hung the DIY hoop wreaths directly on small nails on the wall which you can’t see. You could also hang them from twine or ribbon.

The only thing I would do differently is use a wooden hoop for both. I think it would pop more off of the cream walls. Maybe next time.

For this simple wreath idea, you could also add ribbon or a small banner that says spring across the top or even other embellishments. I hope you are inspired to make your own embroidery hoop wreath for Spring or start your spring decor. Do you have a project in mind?

  1. Super pretty wreaths. Love the simplicity. I believe that piece of distressed wood that the small one was leaning against would be really nice left behind the wreath. Adds a little something. Thanks for posting!
